Abstract:
In this paper a discussion of the use of variational analysis versus Galerkin formulation in developing integral finite element equations is presented. In view of this discussion finite element Galerkin type equations are developed for selected elliptic and parabolic equations. In developing these equations special emphasis is given to the inter element bounda1;;y conditions. Two examples are included in the area of fluid mechanics for illustrative purposes.
