Abstract:
The Life Support Systems Evaluator Console was built to monitor and record the changes in environmental parameters occurring during the test of men and life systems in an evaluator or space flight test chamber. The problems involved in furnishing the necessary instrumentation and displays were considered in a preliminary design investigation. The system design which evolved from the preliminary study embodies a fourmodule steel enclosure or console, with turret top section, work table surface, and rollaway table section, which contains the complete monitor system. The evaluator instrumentation includes sensors, indicators, and recorders which enable the investigators to monitor the following: absolute and differential pressures at six different stations in the test chamber, temperatures at 24 stations within the forward and aft sections of the chamber, relative humidity in forward and aft sections of the test chamber, analyses of chamber atmospheric composition, and continuous recording of the variables.
