Abstract Text:
Differential game barrier theory was applied to three pursuit-evasion problems. For the first problem the solution involving the angle-off constraint was directly determined from the natural barrier solution. For the second problem the capture range was relatively insensitive to the angle-off. The solution to the third problem which approximates the terminal part of air-to-air combat showed that an increase in the pursuer's speed or a decrease in his minimum radius of turn resulted in a decrease in the capture range.

This report describes a concentrated effort to identify and quantify the parameters involved in the design of matrix displays for legibility and to assess the design trade-offs against the criterion of symbol legibility. A literature survey was conducted to determine what information previously existed and its applicability to matrix displays. The literature survey is included as an appendix to this report.
